6x1062@T 5/30

Went to the track to do 4x1600@T, ends up the kids were still there and I was too early so ended up doing a workout on the dirt track around Lake Runnemede. Wasn't so sure going into it, thought it might bugger up my ankle, but surprisingly it feels fine now. The dirt track is short - a little more than 1000 meters, so I ended up doing six - faster than threshold but two minutes rest. Don't think it was too much too close to the race.

Long run for the week. Not much, just nine. Got a little more sleep than is normal last night - work. Don't think Brook Hill is going to get fixed anytime soon, so there's a short bit you have to walk, maybe a hundred meters, less than that. Some tough hills in the first half of the run make the time a bit slower, but its' mostly down hill from mile 6 on so...

Another threshold/easy/threshold workout. First set was quick, easy was a bit faster than easy, and the second threshold was a tough. I remember last time I did a T/E/T workout the second threshold was tough. Not sure why, but...

Ankle was a bit twingey. Not as bad as it was before, but still not 100%. I feel like it's a not in my calf and it hinders my ankle. Not sure if that's real or not though...

Decent workout. Ended up doing 30:49@5:53 pace. A little faster than the adjusted threshold time, but still okay. First mile was really fast and I think that just kind of averaged the time down. After the first mile, I hit splits 1:29 pretty regularly.

Ankle wasn't bad. It feels bruised almost. Iced today. Will ice tomorrow.

Long run out Hunt to West Windsor and back. Up Sheddsville and Cemetery. Just an out and back, figuring it'd be up hill one way and down hill the other. Wrong. So much up and down. So tired. Really pretty, but awful hills. Ankle sore for some reason. Couple different times almost made me stop. Still kind of sore/tight when I bring my toes up. Not sure what's going on. Think the swelling might also be up. Need to ice tomorrow.

Stroller 5 5/19

Easy run up Rt. 5 and back with a side track up J-hill. Legs were sore and tired, and wanted to take today slow and easy, so no looping around Cherry and the Cemetery. Considering yesterday, today felt pretty good. Ankle twinged a little. Think it has to do with yesterday being a pretty intense day, and trying to run down hill and slow the stroller at the same time. Think it messes up my form and I'm smashing down on my heels. 4x1600@T 6x200@R 2 Mile Accl. 5/18

Started the workout with a 1600 time trial. Wasn't sure if I could break 5:00 but was really hoping to. Went out in 68, 2:23, 3:37, 4:52. Almost quit at 400 because it was too fast but stuck it out. Pretty stoked about it. Took about a ten minute break and did an 800 in 4:17. Then did the rest of my workout. 200s were quick, though the acceleration run was junk. Too much too slow. Definitely won't be doing another in the future.

Sub-5 5/18

A wise man once said: "Breaking five in the mile is like getting to first base on prom night."

For a while now I've been wanting to run a mile time trial, but haven't got the balls or the courage to do it. Tried once in Georgia, but gave up at the 3/4 mark for some reason I've forgotten.

Ate dinner later than normal, and it was warmer than normal, but there wasn't any wind to speak of, and I'd been telling myself I was going to do it for a while so I did it. I can't pace worth a damn anymore. Went out the first 200 in 33, and the first 400 in 68 - a little fast. Faster than I wanted and it was there I almost quit. Did the next and ran a 2:23 800, the 1000 was 3:00 and the 1200 was 3:37. Pushed the last lap, but probably could have pushed harder. Finished in a 4:52. Pretty stoked about that.

Easy stroller run. Did the five mile loop, had to mix it up a little bit because of some construction, but the difference was insignificant... Just checked distance on g-map and I really need to start being more precise on some of these runs. Going around a lot of corners makes your mileage whack. Telling me this run was 5.2, then satellited it it's 5.03... Have to re-route my stroller loops. Blah.

Good workout tonight. Nice all day, then it started raining, thunder and lightning. Lightning made me a little apprehensive with metal spikes in a big field... Did it anyway, felt good.

Wasn't sure if I was going to go at T-pace or a little faster just to gear up for the Half. I'm thinking that T-pace would be an ideal race pace, but wanted to got a little faster just for kicks. Through in a couple twos at the end just because. Calves are sore, but should be good with some stretching.

Easy family run. Up Rt. 5 again. Felt pretty good. Went for a long bike ride with the Little Guy attached either on the bike or in his trailer. Ten miles, might have been slow, but legs are sore. Right knee is a little sore.

Good workout today. Ankle felt pretty good. A couple times in the middle it felt funny for a stride but nothing continuous. Think I need to stretch my ITs and my calves.

Was supposed to hit 6:04 pace. Tried to knock out 1:31s but some ended up being quicker than that - actually most. None were slower which is good. Did an extra lap with cool-down and instead of quitting at 40:00 even, I finished the lap and so ended at 40:20.

Stroller 5 5/10

Pretty easy. Went a little faster than normal when it comes to stroller runs as of late. Ankle felt pretty good. Little twitchy at the end, but not too bad. Not sure what it is that triggers it. Did a fair bit of stretching afterwards and before. Felt fine all morning which isn't what I expected after a tough workout last night.

I-Fartlek 5/9

Second run of the day. Wasn't feeling like going out earlier in the day, but felt decent after the family run, and decided to do my fartlek today instead of Friday. That way I could pull up early depending on how my ankle felt. Ended up doing it a bit faster than I wanted to do. Ideally I was going for 80/400, but went faster depending on the set. First 600 was 1:48...

All in all, my ankle felt pretty good. The fifth and sixth set felt a little rough. I was thinking of pulling up after the sixth six hundred, but didn't. The ankle was fine, it felt a little tight when I stopped, but only then. The cool down also felt fine, until I got on the sidewalk. Once on sidewalk and driveway my ankle felt a little rougher. Not really sure what the deal is...

Father-in-Law wants to do Adirondack Marathon September 23rd. Got some fixture congestion going on there, so have to figure it out...

Easy run with the stroller. Went a different way today. Initially the same loop, but instead of doubling back down Union went over by the playground and around the lake a bit. Still awful. Hills and the stroller don't match well. Ankle tweaked once, but nothing like it has been. Going to keep icing it, wrapping it, and compressing it as much as possible.

New Tweak: Left Quad is a bit sore, but only going down hill...

Rough workout. First set of 2000s felt good. Not too fast, not too slow. The easy was nice and slow. Around mile 4 on the sidewalk my ankle twinged a bit, but then was fine once I got back onto the track. Not really sure what it is. The second set of 2000s was awful. Almost quit the last 2000. Super short of breath from the bloating. I think it's going down some, but my abdomen is still kind of tight. Think this workout kicked some of it out. Try some wheat bran tomorrow morning.

SPP 5/2

Got my long run in. Felt pretty good. My stomach felt bloated, but I think it loosened up some of the bloating and I feel better now. My ankle still kind of sucks. Felt fine this morning, but today it got sort of tender right away. From then on it only came in a little bit. It seems to hurt a bit more when the crown of the road puts the outside of my foot up higher. Probably need to do some PT. Going to stay of trails for a while. Hope that helps. Probably take a serious break after CBHM.
