Easy short run around town. Went looking for some mushrooms. Too late for the Train Wrecker. Lots of them there, but too big and past prime. Found some Wine Caps and the Hard Agrocybes at the track. Swam across the stream at the fire house. Deep.

Memorial Day Condo Trails 5/27

Easy run. Just out the condo trails and back. Felt fairly okay. Leg didn't bother me, long uphill then back. Not sure what I did later in the day, but my right quad is feeling a bit tight. Going to take tomorrow off, run on Wednesday instead.

Shires 2013

Ran the Shires. Felt good until mile 23, then shit hit the fan and I faded hard. Felt good throughout. Slowed things down from time to time, but pushed a little too hard I think. Didn't have anyone around me to pace either so... Kind of disappointed with awards. Maple syrup. Would have liked some sort of little keep sake type thing. Did about a half mile warm up. Another 2.2 when I got home with the family.

Got a nasty cramp mile 10ish or so. Didn't stop like CHaD, but definitely slowed me down some. Ended up curling over, then leaning back. That seemed to loosen things up a bit. Came just after I had a little water. Need to figure this water thing out. Might just not have any for CBHM, just a bit to dump on my noggin.

No food at the race before hand, so I was running on oatmeal I last ate at 5:30 or so. Not too bad.

Caught a lot of flak for this race. Kind of pissed.

6x1600@ Shires GP 5/16

Sort of threshold, but a lot slower. Don't really want to die on this marathon like the last one, so planning on going a lot slower than what JD calls for - 6:09. Think I'm going to try and hit 6:27... Did 6x6:27 and it felt kind of hard, almost harder than 6:04 for 40 minutes straight. Took 45 seconds rest.

I-Fartlek 5/6

Fartlek on the track. Was doing well, until I buggered up the sixth set. Not sure how or why, but skipped the 2:00 and went straight to the 1:00... Figured it out a lap into my cool down, so I banged out what I missed. Distance was the same, but I had done a bit of a cool down. First time I've run fast barefoot in a while.

I always seem to have trouble with the recovery on these. I can hold on for the first few sets, but by set four I end up taking a bit longer. Instead of 200 in 1:00 it becomes 1:05, or 100 in :30 becomes :35. Not too big of a deal, but still kind of annoying. I wouldn't mind putting fifty meter marks on the track so I can do a full 100 recovery for the :30 instead of 50 meters...
