WTF 10/28

Was going to do an easy run, did some easy to the town forest, then my right calf started getting tight again. Stopped and did a bit of jogging (mushroom picking) then ran home. Probably 3 miles or so. Really slow. Not sure what's going on. Pissed.

VA Home 10/25

Didn't run yesterday. Went real short the day before on some trails. Didn't enjoy it. Wasn't sure how long today was going to be. Drove the Wife to work so I could drop the Little Guy off with her at the end of the day and she could go to her shower. Bit long from Lebanon and wasn't sure I was up for it so just trucked it home from the VA. 14.7 miles. Route 5 until Hartland, then a blip to avoid the four corners.

Felt pretty good, though my calf tightened up towards the end. Not really sure why. Think it was just a cramp. Hope it was just a cramp. Same calf as before.

Where To Now?

So with the CHaD bombed and no Turkey Trot, I think it's time for a bit of time off. Maybe. I'll probably keep at things - 15/30 miles a week. Try to do some yoga. Rest my ankle. See if it gets better.

For next year I want to run at least one half and at least one full marathon.

Would love to find a couple for that June-Oct mid part. Don't think Smuttynose Indoor Half is an option, but maybe Kerry might still be out on maternity leave...

CHaD Half 10/21

Total choke. Last three weeks or so have been hell training. Low miles, nothing on the track. Really dogged it, and it showed today. Pacing was off something fierce. First mile was 6:00, then 5:30, then 6:30. Go figure... They started the 5k and Half together so I wasn't sure what to do. I wanted to go out with the leaders, but previously some fast 5ks had been run so I didn't want to get caught up in it... Bad idea. Not to mention the 100 Jack Asses all racing out of the gate and stopping 100 yards later.

I managed to get into third by a good 30 seconds or so, and then I had a nasty side stitch of the likes I've never seen and I actually stopped... First race in my life I've stopped. I stopped for 1:30 - 2:00 minutes got passed by third and fourth place. Finally caught up to fourth place, and then just sort of gave up. Stopping totally did me in mentally. Got passed by two more guys in the last 100 yards just because I didn't give a shit. Embarrassed of this race. Not even sure my time right now - 1:21:xx.

Time for a break I guess...

Catch-up 10/19

Little bit of catch-up here. This past week was pretty good. Stayed on top of things pretty good. Lots of miles on trails. Though can't do trails at night, ends up being more in town loops. Pretty stoked for this half marathon Sunday. Going to do it in huarches.

Catch Up 10/11

Well... Not sure how much mileage I've done since I last posted. Probably not much. This last month has been pretty sloppy. Totally unmotivated to run and with all the house stuff going on, it's too easy to not run. Forced myself out the day before Octoberfest. Forced myself out today; I've just got to hang on a bit until this CHaD Half is done and then I'm taking a break.

My right ankle is kind of buggering up. Pain starts on top of the ankle, towards the back, but moves toward the inside of calf. Don't think it slows me down but it is uncomfortable. Might be tendonitis, or some other overuse thing.

Octoberfest went okay. Wore the huraches - regular shoes hurt my ankles at this point - and got some looks. Really wanted to place in the top three - didn't. I went out slow, and negative split, but probably should have gone out faster. Instead of going with the leaders I tried to play catch up. The first two guys were 5:10ish, so they were probably out of the picture, but I could have gotten third - and a shit ton of free beer. Oh well. Next year?
