Pretty good workout. Ended up being just over 20 minutes each clip for a total of 3.5 miles. The 10@E was only 9 and 1.25 miles. Went too fast, but found it kind of hard to slow it down. Legs feeling good.

Good week. Hit 45. Long run wasn't as long as I'd hoped, but that was my fault... Q1 was a little soft and could definitely use some reworking in the future. Q2 was pretty good and bumped miles up. Ankle's feeling good though calves are tighter than I'd like - but I might be being a little hyper sensitive.

Good workout. Little too fast... But overall felt pretty good. Calves are a bit tight. Wish I could have hit the paces better, but once I got rolling I couldn't slow it down too much. Not sure why... Was supposed to be 5:50-5:53.

4x200@R/3x1000@I/2x400@R 3/26

First real Q workout that had some faster paced stuff. Done a few threshold workouts on the track this year, and attempted an I-pace, but this was the first to bring in some R-pace stuff. Felt pretty easy - said the same thing last year - but as this workout is kind of the first quick one of the season, it's not bad. Still wish I took my advice and added another 1000 or two. Maybe next year I'll remember.

Hard to pace 200s, but did okay once I got the first one out. The 1000s were a ton easier than the other day with the snow on the track. 400s were harder, and slower than the 200s, but still not awful. My calves are sort of tight, and my right calf felt a little strained. Day off tomorrow and lots of rolling/stretching should hopefully help it out some. Hit times for a vdot of 61. For r-pace jogged equal distances, for i-pace jogged 400. Did the last 400 recover plus 800 extra barefoot.

Still congested and dehydrated.

990' 3/24

Long run felt good. Kind of pissed, but... Made the loop yesterday night and forgot to do some looping around the house. The difference is only a quarter of a mile, but all the same. Dipped just below 14 and ended up being 13.95. Ran by a couple of different groups. No one going too quick. Lots of hills. Took Farm Road and forgot about the snow - took about 4:30 to run a half mile. Bleh. More of a summer run I guess.

CBHM Phase III Week III

Good week coming up. Couple of good Q workouts. Hopefully the weather warms up a bit and I can actually get on the track... Might have to modify one longer Q workout that has a fair bit of T-pace. Going to keep mileage the same. Would really like to hit 45 and get onto six days of running, but don't see that happening. Maybe when it warms up and is lighter longer... Getting kind of nervous about how I can perform on 5 days of 43 mile weeks...

6x1000@I 3/22

Manned up and did my 1000s today. Though I was going to originally do 7 so guess I pussed out on that... My calf felt fine and my ankle was decent so figured why not. I probably could have done 7 but the time constraints were there, and my left lower leg was starting to feel a bit wonky. Calf kind of tight, ankle a little noticeable. The sixth one was also really hard and the slowest and I didn't want to horse anything just yet. When I started it was near 35, when I finished it was probably near 32 and windy cold. The slush and snow were starting to harden and it was making things a lot harder - like that shite 2k workout - can't wait until this damn snow melts. Wore my KKs for the first time in a while. They felt good. Loosened up the laces a bit like my R3s. Would have liked to pace better, but not bad for my first real speed workout in a looong time.

Goal pace was between 3:20-3:23. Jogged 400 recovery - about 2:15.

J-Hill+ 6.9 3/21

Another easy run. Almost seven miles. Did a mile on the track. Felt okay overall. Ankle a little sore, calves a bit tight, but not as bad. Track pretty cleaned up. What little snow is there, isn't too deep. Nothing spikes can't bite through. Still have a nasty cold. Super congested. Might try to do 1000s tomorrow, not sure.

Wore my R3s. Undid the laces and started them halfway up the shoe, so there's no shoe laces in the bottom three holds. Shoes felt much better. Maybe that extra space will help the shoes feel better.

Crappy run today. Calves felt tight so took things easy. Ate too many beans and had to hit the can as I got near the house. Was going to do a couple extra loops around the house to up the mileage - didn't happen. Guess it's a good thing today was easy, just wish it wasn't because I had to use the bathroom...

Ankle felt a little swollen, a little tight throughout the day. Better than yesterday, but still worse than the day before.

7x2/1/:30 Fartlek BMT+ 3/19

Didn't get out last night. Kind of pissed about it. Ankle was wonky, but at the same time, I really should have gotten out and on the track. Now the tracks buried under another six inches of snow. Stupid winter/spring. Had a snow day so went for a fartlek run. Did a 2/1/:30 with 1/:30/:30 rest. Ankle felt fine while doing it, though my right calf started to get a bit knotty towards the end. Not really sure what to do about it. Try to do some form drills?

Yesterday I rubbed my peroneal tendon and it sent some shooting pain/numbness into my foot ankle. Kept doing it and it eventually went away. Had some soreness, but no more pain, numbness.

HES-Short Fartlek 3/15

Kind of bummed. Was going to do HES Home, but got into a meeting that ran late and couldn't get in touch with the wife, so I just ended up going home down 5 which wasn't as long. Still hit my mileage goal for the week, but I could have hit 45 miles if I went down County. Other weeks I guess...

Did 6x2/1,1/.5,.5/.5. Felt pretty good. I knew it was fast, but I wasn't sure how fast. Overall the pace was 6:15 and that includes my warm-up and cool-down - albeit they were short. There was a fair bit of elevation loss, but also a pretty big hill in the middle.

J-Hill+ 3/14

Got out a little later than I would have liked... Did easy 6.2. Was going to hit the track and do some barefoot miles, but too cold didn't do it.

Ankles been acting up today. Could be a number of things, but not sure which exactly it is:

1.) Too heavy/stressful of a week. On pace for 45 miles - 9 miles/day. So far avg. pace is 6:43.
2.) Poor form - muddy long run, lots of snow/ice on track.
3.) Barefoot miles - pain came with huaraches and barefoot.

N. Parsonage 3/12

Did my long run today. Felt pretty good. Muddy, muddy, muddy. Soaking wet hard pack sucks. Definitely have to work on keeping my toes forward and not pushing off sideways in slick surfaces. Lots of hills like always. Steep, nasty, hills.

Raining misty today. Ankle a little more tender, stiff than normal. Not sure if it was the barefoot yesterday, or the long run on mucky ground with the r3s.

Track 6.7 3/11

Went to the track to see how things looked. Almost no snow - except for a ten foot stretch of snowy ice. Looking good for the track workouts, though we're supposed to get some now this week... At least it's warm - maybe it will melt...

Did 3.25 barefoot. Felt pretty good. Ankles a little sore, but not sure if that's from the uneven terrain yesterday or the barefoot. Tried to work on form/footfall.

Things went really slow. 6:00 pace or slower. The southern half and the home stretch were buried and some black ice. Hips sore as hell...

Around Town 6.55 3/7

Fairly good run. Decent weather. Cold, but not frigid. Did a mile on the track to break things up a bit, still couldn't do a workout or anything faster than 7:15 pace. Hopefully by this weekend it will be cleared enough to make a a clear path through lane 1.

Ankle feels pretty good over all. Think things are good. When the weather clears up I'll introduce some barefoot and hopefully can get back out of the shoes. Still think the R3s are problematic...

5x2k BV Loop 3/5

Good workout. Legs sore but not bad. Wore my r2s again and the ankle feels good. Really thinking it's the r3s doing me in. Especially considering it was the BV Loop with the turns... First one was slow. Second was way too fast. Think some of it had to do with the course. When I started on the northern end of BV I hit the hill three times, when I started at the south end, I only hit it twice. Lots less elevation change. Not too big of a concern but... Overall, felt good. Good workout.

Screwed the pooch on this one. Ran to the track to see how things would look for tomorrow. Track's still buried in snow. Came out and continued the run but wasn't sure of the distance. Thought I hit closer to 6.5 then 6, but only 6.1. Can still hit mileage goal, but not necessarily as easy as before. Kind of a bummer.

Marton Loop Fartlek 3/1

Decent fartlek this afternoon. Still got a nasty cold. Lots of congestion. Throat a little sore. Did 6x5/3. Tried to push the five minutes pace as best I could. Found myself drifting a little in the beginning. Had to do five fast up the big Marton Hill; that nearly killed me. Ankle feels good. 30 minutes hard.
