Easy family run. Went barefoot. Really slow. Calf was sore today. Trying to rub it down and massage it thoroughly. Not really sure what's going on. Definitely not going to hit my weekly goal, guess it was a bit high for a busy week, but... Hopefully, next week will be better.

Crap workout today. Really wanted to do 20/10/20, but it was pretty late, and my right calf started to get tight. Not sure if it was the long day or that my calf is really sore. Kind of annoying. Worried about really knotting it up like my left calf.

Did a treadmill run at the hotel this morning. Kind of sucked. Treadmill kept slipping. Would have really liked to do some more mileage, but wasn't able to. Think this weeks mileage goal is screwed. Not even sure if I can get tomorrows Q workout in on account of the house... Maybe I'll just do a hard fartlek if I get crap.

Prison Pond Plus 8/27

Did a long run. Wanted to go longer, but didn't have the time for it - added on Juniper Hill for an extra bit of mileage. Mother was coming up and we were going to the hotel, and I didn't want to push too hard. Should have just tossed on an extra couple of miles to make the rest of the week a bit easier. Will see if I can make up the mileage as the week progresses, but not sure I'll be able to... Got pretty hot, took a dip in Prison Pond. Wish we could get that land...

First real workout in two weeks. Felt pretty good. Calves didn't bother me at all. Though the workout felt kind of easy. Didn't want to push it too much first day back back. I think next season this workout could use some revamping. Definitely too easy. Toss another two 1000s on and I might have something, but 3x1000 isn't anything.

Really pleased with how I handled this injury. Hopefully it stays away.

CHaD Phase III Week II

Not sure how this week will go. Want to get back into things, but don't want to further injure myself. Mileage goal is going to be between 35-40, maybe more if I'm feeling good, but not sure. Again not sure if I'll do a real track workout or not, but I might try some light fartlek type stuff at T-pace. Going to put original Q workouts in followed in parenthesis by what I might do depending on how things feel.

Makeshift T-pace 8/22

Originally had 4800/3200/4800, but knew I couldn't do that. So I was going to try a 3200/1600/3200. Got done with the 3200 and wasn't sure I could handle it. I might have been able to, but my left calf felt a little knotty after the first 3200, so I decided to take it easy. Jogged two miles on the track, then did a 1600@T and felt fine. Easy jog home.

Not the best workout, but definitely almost ready to go full bore. Not sure how this weeks second Q workout is going to go, but...

Just some more easy stuff to try and fix the calf. Few laps around Lake Runnemeade. Feels okay. Really trying to lift the legs and push with the calves less. Hope I'm not totally misunderstanding stuff. Might do a track workout tomorrow, but not 100% sure yet. Still need to make a weekly plan.

Think I rubbed my right calf too hard, and now it just hurts. Bummer.

Fartleky Test 8/19

Went to the track with the Family. Hung out with the Little Guy while the Wife ran. Then I did my run after. Don't know where the shee with times went, but I did a mile warm-up, then alternated .25 on .25 off for 2 miles. So I got a mile worth of quick quarters in. First two were in the low 80s, last two were at 78. Felt okay. Got a little sore at the end. Right calf is a little sore now, but it's much lower, almost more an Achilles thing.

Recovery 5.7 8/17

First day out on the roads after my calf strain. Went up Clough and down Juniper Hill, plus Channing loop. Felt really good until I hit the Channing loop. Something about the downhill made my calf tighten up. Not sure why. Kept going easy. Massaged it when I got home. Hopefully this is the end of it. Trying to do more lifting of the legs and less pushing. Not sure how that's working but...

Got yelled at when I came home, so who knows how the rest of CHaD training will progress...

So last weeks little knot turned into a real problem. Felt fine in the family run, then got all buggered up on my long run. Had to stop early and walk home... Ended up taking most of the week off. Finally able to get out on Saturday and do a really slow mile. Really sucks. Not happy at all, and am getting a little worried at how awful it felt after taking four days off.

Recovery Mile 8/11

Pretty bummed. My calf has been feeling better, but is definitely not 100%. Tried to go out with the family yesterday but no luck. Went today and was kind of sore after a mile. Didn't want to push it. Probably could have gone further, but... Really slow too.

I can go up and down stairs without any real problems. Flexibility seems like it's probably about 75-80%. The real problem is when I try to push off my toes. Feels like a massive cramp.

Injury Day 1 8/7

Damn pissed. 130 day streak done. Stupid calf. Pretty tight. Tried to do some running. Ran to the railroad tracks but had to turn around because it hurt too much. Plan on taking tomorrow off too. Friday might be easy if I can get out at all. Hopefully I can do 5 on Saturday. Total bummer this.

Long 12.0 8/6

Really irked. Calf knot from the 3/2/1 workout ended up tweaking a bit going up Marton Hill. Stretched it out a bit and kept going. Felt fine except for some of the downhills. Started getting a little more sore towards the end, then outside of Price Chopper something twinged a bit more and dropped me. Walked home. 12.75 mile run ended up being a 12.25 run. Not sure what I did. Should have stopped, hopefully it's just a little strain and will go away in a day...

Didn't drink enough water, ate like crap, not sure if that had to do with anything at all.

Nice 3/2/1 workout. Lots easier than I remember my last 4/3/2/1 workout to be. I was trying to hit 5:50, but ended up being quick on almost all of them. Legs and ankle feel good. Little cramp in my left calf at the end, but really insignificant. Did the two miles the opposite direction.

Ladder workout of sorts. Felt pretty good, but the 800s were killer. Not sure why, but I find them really hard. I can hit the 400s without a problem, but 800s are tough. Gotta work on my speed a bit I guess... Muscles a bit sore in my legs.
