CHaD Half '13

Really good race today. Felt good mentally. This race and last race really able to push through things. The mile splits are wrong and the clock at the end of the race where wrong but... Pretty pleased. I might have been able to stay with AH through the finish but didn't. Lost him at mile four and picked him back up at mile 12.

Octoberfest '13

Got out early this morning for an easy run with the wife. Felt pretty good. Did a mile warm-up for the race. Decided to wear my huaraches, and forgot my watch at home, again. Leaving the watch at home - I think - ended up being a good thing. I think if I would have seen some of my splits I would have gotten scared and slowed up.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the race. Picked some guys off. Felt like I kept pushing faster and mentally, I was totally there the whole time trying to push and grind. The finish is rough though and I had a hard time pushing myself any faster downhill. Ran a PR though and won my old man age group.

1600 TT 7/6

Another TT. Hoping to break my PR from my last TT. Looked at the stats from last time and hit my times from pretty much the last time. Did three miles with the family to warm-up. Then did a half  mile barefoot with some strides. Mile cool-down. Felt okay. Really got to get my first lap under control. HR was at 176 on finish.

CBHM 6/3

Awesome race today. Felt really confident going in, felt pretty good coming out. Got up real early to not miss the bus to the start. Ended up waiting around the start for a good hour plus. Didn't start at the front line, and only went for a short warm-up - less than a mile. Started in the second row. Went out slow - 5:50 - and kept pace pretty well. Popped one really slow mile 6:11, then ramped it up to a 5:37 and back to 5:50's after that. Almost had third, I was right behind him with a mile to go, and I just sort of fell off the pace or at least didn't keep with him. Still ran a nice PR. Also ran the first half either behind or next to a really fast girl. She ended up running a 1:17... Fast. Happy with my 1:16:43. Gonna have to push to do that at CHaD.

Sub-5 5/18

A wise man once said: "Breaking five in the mile is like getting to first base on prom night."

For a while now I've been wanting to run a mile time trial, but haven't got the balls or the courage to do it. Tried once in Georgia, but gave up at the 3/4 mark for some reason I've forgotten.

Ate dinner later than normal, and it was warmer than normal, but there wasn't any wind to speak of, and I'd been telling myself I was going to do it for a while so I did it. I can't pace worth a damn anymore. Went out the first 200 in 33, and the first 400 in 68 - a little fast. Faster than I wanted and it was there I almost quit. Did the next and ran a 2:23 800, the 1000 was 3:00 and the 1200 was 3:37. Pushed the last lap, but probably could have pushed harder. Finished in a 4:52. Pretty stoked about that.

68 - 400
75 - 2:23 - 800
74 - 3:37 - 1200
